On 18 September, ‘peaceful and calm, brush and paint merge – You Wuqu’s 110 anniversary art exhibition’ was opened at No.3 exhibition hall of level 1 of new exhibition hall of Nantong Museum. 68 representative works from You Wuqu, in the 92 years from 1994 to 2006 were exhibited, which presented painter You Wuqu’s great achievements in multiple fields such as poetry, calligraphy, painting, and garden work.

There are many types of exhibits, such as water and ink landscape painting, colored landscape painting, pines, flowers and calligraphy works. In the exhibition hall, You Wuqu’s photos of drawing in Huangshan and anatomical maps while he was working in medical school were presented by inkjet. There are contents of comments about You Wuqu by domestic leading experts, scholars and painters.

‘My father started to learn traditional Chinese painting at five years old. He did not drop the brush for his life.’ You Wuqu’s only son, honorary curator of Nantong Guanglang tang You Wuqu art museum, You Shihuang said. You Shiliang donated You Wuqu’s work waterfall in deep valley done in 1943 to Nantong Museum.

The exhibition was held by Nantong Museum and Nantong Guanglang tang You Wuqu art museum, assisted by Nantong calligraphy and Chinese painting research institute and Nantong cultural and art work research center. It will last until 25 October.
