At about 8 am on 5 March, the 50-day-long Nantong ship lock scheduled operation suspension and maintenance was started officially.

Nantong ship lock is located at the intersection of Nantong-Lvsi Canal and the Yangtze River. It is a major transport passage of energy, mining and industrial raw materials and products in Nantong. The ship lock was built and started operation in 1960. Since a major maintenance in 2005, in total 1.0531 million ships passed the ship lock which carried 327 million ton of cargo.
