On 18 August, Nantong People’s Political Consultative Conference held event, members of Nantong People’s Political Consultative Conference, local universities, foreigner representatives in Nantong focused on ‘standardization of foreign language translation in Nantong public service’, conducted consultation and discussion.

In the past few years, the international level of Nantong has been increased gradually, but problems still exist which are incorrect, not standard and improper foreign language translation and writing in public service fields including transport, culture and tourism, education, medicine, catering and accommodation.

Participating parties reached agreement, suggested to establish work system, combine local practical conditions, and create foreign language usage standard for Nantong public service field as soon as possible; increase supervision and guidance, establish language and writing supervising group, and carry out routine supervision and guidance work; build talent team, improve translator and proofreader pre-employment training, promote practitioners’ understanding of English translation standard.
