Slovenian Chinese Wang Huiqin

I was born in Nantong, and now live in Slovenia. I work on art teaching and creation. In 2023, at Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, my Little Oma theme exhibition was held successfully; in June, I returned to my homeland, ‘Keyboard links the world’ exhibition was closed successfully; the short animation made from Little Oma’s trip around the world won ‘Best Short Film Award’ at Slovenia Film Festival; as a bridge connecting China and Slovenia culture, the stories of Liu Songling, Alma Karlin and me were promoted by Silu Monsoon.

Recently, I assisted the embassy in completing the building of China Slovenia Friendship Monument(a proportional replica of Elaborate Equatorial Armillary Sphere), and participated in the unveiling and ribbon cutting! Last year, my illustrations and animations were invited to participate in Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. Just now, I was informed to participate in 2024 Bologna Book Fair in Italy as one of the 12 painters representing Slovenia!

In the new year, I will continue to use art as the medium, increase the cultural exchange with overseas Chinese associations of my hometown, by online and offline diversified channels, spread the voice of Nantong, and be a bridge builder of China and Slovenia cultural exchange.

Nantong is my hometown. No matter how far and longer I go, the inherent concern and attachment to my hometown is always in my bones and blood.

In 2024 Jiachen dragon year, as a descendant of the dragon, my homesickness grew stronger. We miss our relatives and friends in hometown, and miss the familiar scenery and culture.

We will promote Nantong actively, tell the stories of Nantong well, spread the voice of Nantong, and be ‘spokespeople’ of the hometown; we will grow strong overseas, and provide suggestions and ideas for the development of Nantong, be the ‘think tank’ of the building of our hometown; we will also play the role as bridges, to promote the cooperation and exchange between Nantong and Germany in multiple fields, be ‘promoters’ of the development of the hometown, and make unique contributions of overseas Chinese to the promotion of Nantong’s new practice of Chinese-style modernization.
