On 4th June, Jiangsu(Nantong) — Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference was held. Ji Xianzheng, the general secretary of the Permanent Secretariat of the China Portugal Forum (Macau), H.E. Maria Gustava, Ambassador of Mozambique to China, Paulo Jorge Nascimento, Ambassador of Portugal to China, Loro Horta, Ambassador of Timor-Leste, etc. attended the event.

In the past few years, Nantong has actively carried out friendly cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries, and established good cooperative relationships in many fields including infrastructure construction, tourism, and cultural exchange. Nantong and Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil, Rudong County and Boa Vista, Cape Verde became international sister cities. In countries including Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, and Guinea-Bissau, a lot of engineering projects and China’s foreign aid projects have been built. Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries have invested 71 projects in Nantong and the actual foreign investment used was 410 million US dollars.

At the promotion conference, ambassadors of Portuguese-speaking countries including Mozambique, Portugal, and Timor-Leste made on-site theme promotion. Countries such as Angola and Brazil made online video promotion.
