According to the latest statistics from Nantong Maritime Safety Administration, in 2024, a total of 119 new ships and offshore engineering products were successfully launched and departed from the Yangtze River in Nantong. The number increased by 32% compared with the same period last year. The total annual output value of Nantong shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry exceeded 200 billion yuan, which hit a historical high.

In 2024, the total tonnage of various types of ships and offshore engineering products of Nantong is nearly 4 million. Among them, ships and offshore engineering products with advanced technology, high added value and special purposes account for up to half, including the largest 24,000 TEU container ship in the world, the FPSO with the largest tonnage in the world, the first large FLNG equipment in China, etc.

The scales of Nantong shipbuilding industry and offshore engineering industry account for 1/10 and 1/4 of China’s total number respectively. The high-tech ships and offshore engineering equipment have even been shortlisted in the national advanced manufacturing industrial clusters.
