antong is my second hometown. I have deep feelings for this place. Thank you for my operation! Chinese doctors are great!’ On 8th January, Fiddy (Pseudonym), a Cameroonian patient expressed gratitude during a phone call from Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University.
52-year-old Fiddy has stayed in Nantong for 21 years. He worked as an English teacher in many schools including Nantong University. He loves football. However, half a year ago, his right knee began to ache when he walked. Especially in the past 3 months, the pain got worse. Fiddy went to various hospitals for consultation and treatment, but there had been no improvement at all. Finally, with the enthusiastic help of the residents’ committee of the community, Fiddy contacted Liu Yake, an Associate Chief Physician with rich overseas learning and training experience in Orthopedics Department of Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University.
After a physical examination at the joint surgery clinic and analysis of imaging data, Fiddy was diagnosed with a rare congenital patellar malformation, ‘bipartite patella’, and extremely severe bone hyperplasia and cartilage wear in his right knee joint. Total knee resurfacing surgery became his best choice for recovery.
After making a personalized knee replacement surgery plan for Fiddy, Liu Yake skillfully used robot navigation assisted technology to perfectly place the knee prosthesis.
On the third day after the surgery, Fiddy was able to get out of bed and walk in the ward on his own. The pain was obviously reduced compared with before the surgery. On the fifth day after the surgery, Fiddy was discharged and walked out of the hospital on his own.
