On 22 January, website of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development published 2019 national ecological garden city notice and Nantong was on the list. Nantong won ‘national ecological garden city’ title and got another wonderful ‘national level’ ecological name card.

It is learnt that national ecological garden city is the ultimate glory of a city’s habitant environment and management level. In 2016 at the 12th congress of representatives of CPC Nantong Committee, building ecological garden city was confirmed as the target of urban transformation and development.

In the last few years, Nantong used ‘garden city’ as the target of urban transformation and development, accumulated more than 1000 hectares public green field of various types in three years, built Cao Ding memorial park, Neng Da ecological corridor, Nantong botanic garden, Wushan forest park Junshan district and other parks, 6 of them have an area of more than 100 hectares. Nantong promotes 10-20 small petty street gardens building every year. Close to 100 petty street gardens were built. Up to now, the completed green space has taken up 41% of the total area, the average park space per person in the city has reached more than 18 square meters, which are in the top in Jiangsu.
