In 2019, Nantong Customs signed and issued certificates of origin for more than 40 thousand batches of cargo which were exported to countries and areas along ‘the Belt and Road’. The value of the cargo reached 2.024 billion U.S. dollars. Companies could enjoy about 100 million U.S. dollars tariff benefit.

Nantong Customs combined ‘the Belt and Road’ proposal and free trade area strategy, based on certificate of origin management work of the Customs, has improved utilization of certificates of origin in free trade agreement of companies, helped Nantong companies create a way to develop ‘the Belt and Road’ market.

‘We exported close to 26 million U.S. dollars cargo to ‘the Belt and Road’ countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam. With certificates of origin issued by the Customs, we enjoyed more than 11 million Yuan tariff reduction in 2019.’ Logistic manager of Momentive performance materials Co., Ltd Jiang Shunping said . The more satisfying thing is that with certificates of origin, the company can have tariff reduction. Jiang Shunping said that saying certificates of origin were paper gold was not exaggerating.
