A direct expressway from Rugao to downtown of Nantong

Tonggao Avenue phase 1 main line open to traffic

On 30 September, the transport project with the most investment in history in Rugao – Tonggao Avenue phase 1 project main line was open to traffic officially.

Tonggao Avenue phase 1 project starts from Haiyang south road in Rugao urban area in the north, ends at Dingping line in the south. It is 22.3 km long. The main road is two way six lane city express. The design speed is 100 kilometers per hour. The line is closed and connected with main roads at intersections.

The opening of Tonggao Avenue provided solid foundation for Rugao expressway network’s connection and transfer with Nantong expressway network and south Jiangsu expressway network. Tonggao Avenue phase 2 project will be started after Nantong railway west station flyover and G40 Nantong railway west station exit connection project was started. By then it will be connected with Nantong expressway network seamlessly. The time taken from Rugao to Nantong will be reduced from more than 60 minutes to more than 30 minutes.
