In the first half of the year, the foreign trade import and export amount is 150.36 billion Yuan in Nantong, there is a 27% increase compared with the data of the same period of last year. The acceleration in the rate is 7.1 per cent higher than the average rate of Jiangsu province. There has been a continuous positive increase for 11 months.

In the first half of the year, import and export values to European union, ASEAN, America and Japan are 22.42 billion Yuan, 19.88 billion Yuan, 18.33 billion Yuan and 15.19 billion Yuan respectively, the increase rates are 30.6%, 20.1%, 29.6%, and 1.3%. The sum accounts for 50.4% of total import and export of Nantong.

The reporter learnt from municipal bureau of commerce that this year there are still quite a few uncertain and unsteady elements in foreign trade development of Nantong, however, in the general environment of recovering overseas demand, high business cycle of major industries, and increasing prices of bulk commodity, foreign trade of Nantong is likely to have a positive trend.
