Hai-Tai Yangtze River tunnel construction started Highway underwater TBM with the longest length in the world and the largest cross section area in China tunnel By Zong He On 7 September morning, CPC Jiangsu Committee and Jiangsu government held Hai-Tai Yangtze River tunnel construction mobilization meeting in Nantong. Hai-Tai Yangtze River tunnel construction was started. Hai-Tai Yangtze River tunnel is a highway and railway composite cross Yangtze River tunnel which is the focus of promotion in the ‘fourteenth five year plan’ of Jiangsu, the first dual channel highway and single channel-two line railway TBM tunnel in China. The highway part connects Suzhou Taicang and Nantong Haimen district. The tunnel is about 11.2 km long. The first super large diameter TBM precast section integrated installation in China was applied. It is a highway underwater TBM tunnel of longest length in the world, and has the largest cross section in China. After it is completed, Yangtze River main channel cross river channel layout will be further optimized, which has significant meaning for promotion of regional complementary, cross river integration and south and north joint development of Jiangsu, promotion of high quality development of the Yangtze River delta integration and development of the Yangtze River economic belt.
