From 7 to 11 June, the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair was held in Shenzhen. As a lately shortlisted ‘National Copyright Demonstration City’, Nantong was presented at ‘Copyright in promotion of urban high quality development’ theme exhibition, with the theme of ‘Nantong Hao Tong, copyrights’ empowerment’.
Vivid imitation embroidery, delicate home textile four-piece set, antique blue calico...in the exhibition hall, one and another copyright works with Nantong characters were exhibited. Looking around, apart from traditional patterns such as flying twin butterflies and bouquets of flowers, fashion elements including cultural landmarks and cartoon images also attracted people.
Nantong is known as ‘capital of textile’. Home textile industry has a dominant position. Data shows that there are close to ten thousand home textile enterprises in Nantong, among them there are more than 300 above scale home textile enterprises and more than 20 thousand family workshops. Super home textile industrial cluster has been cultivated and formed. The annual average trading volume of home textile patterns online and offline is 1.2 billion yuan. The output value of home textile industry can reach 240 billion yuan.
‘Patterns and styles which have core competitiveness in home textile industry are easy to be copied.’ Zhang Chong, board chairman of Jiangsu Fuzhidao Mei'an Textile Technology Co., Ltd, said that by ‘civil mediation, administrative management, and judicial intervention’ three in one home textile copyright protection mode of Nantong, pattern design of home textile can embrace the wings of imagination.
Jiang Rong, relevant person in charge of Nantong Benlan Crafts Co., Ltd. (Cao Yuxing dyehouse), who has done a lot of research on patterns, brought creative blue calico works such as scarf, bag and notebook, ‘with copyright protection, traditional intangible cultural heritage skills were succeeded ‘lively’.’
‘The company has more than 500 independent copyright patterns. The annual sales of copyright new products accounts for more than 80% of the annual sales. The products are sold to many countries and areas such as Japan, Korea, Europe and the U.S.’ Jiang Rong said that blue calico products with both antique and creative elements were liked by young people continuously.
