Recently, Jiangsu Shemar Electric Co., Ltd. exclusively won the bid for the KILO±600 kV UHV DC project in Chile. The project is a landmark project for direct current transmission in South America. It marks that China’s external insulation technology has been recognized by the international high-end market.
The KILO±600 kV UHV DC project in Chile will be jointly developed by China Southern Power Grid, Transelec from Chile and ISA from Colombia. The transmission capacity has reached 3 million kilowatts. The route is 1,500km long, and crosses the Atacama Desert. Facing an extreme environment with an average annual rainfall of less than 0.1mm, strong ultraviolet radiation and extremely high pollution levels, the long-life line composite insulators developed by Shemar Electric have undergone three rounds of rigorous screening by global manufacturers over 20 months, and finally obtained the exclusive supply qualification for the entire line due to its excellent performance.
