On the evening of 12th May, a Chinese and Korean traditional music exchange performance was held at Nantong Gengsu Theatre. Actors from National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts and Nantong Art Theatre performed classic folk music of the two countries.

National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts brought traditional Korean dance and musical instrument performances. ‘For this performance, Korea has selected traditional art forms such as Taepyeongwu, Pansori, and Arirang that best reflect Korean characteristics and the emotions of Koreans.’ Kwon Yu-ah, the person in charge of the project of National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, said, ‘although the two countries speak different languages, we can truly feel the mutual connection and understanding through music.’

Actors from Nantong Art Theatre also performed a series of wonderful programs.

A local citizen Jin Xianzi works in a Korean company in Nantong. Knowing that there would be a Chinese and Korean traditional music exchange performance at door-step, she came deliberately to watch. She said, ‘it is my first time to get in contact with traditional Korean folk music at a close distance. It really opened my eyes. At the same time, the music exchange performance not only let us further feel the charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture, but also helped the global promotion of Chinese culture.’
