On 28 May, Alibaba group and Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area signed agreement officially, planned to increase 15 billion Yuan for Alibaba Jiangsu cloud computing data center expansion project.

On 18 December 2017, Alibaba Jiangsu cloud computing data center project of 18 billion Yuan total investment was settled in Nantong Integrated Free Trade Zone. Last November, the project started operation. Up to now 40 thousand servers are online. General Manager of IDC research department of Alibaba Gao Shanyuan said, ‘Nantong data center serves all core business of the group, including e-commerce, Alibaba cloud and finance. We hope that we can make Nantong the largest data center of Alibaba in East China to support the business growth in the next five years.’
