35 years old Wu Yali, is an ordinary woman in Fuxing village, Rucheng streets, Rugao. Few people know that Wu Yali who is optimistic and confident, with a smile on her face often, was a major depressive disorder patient 8 years ago.
On 6 July, talking about the past to our reporter, Wu Yali was still seized by emotion.
Wu Yali’s father Wu Dihong is 57 years old, is a locksmith; her mother Zhang Jianmei is 55 years old, retired from previous Rugao printing mill. Graduated from technical school, Wu Yali succeeded her father’s work, rented a store in the first floor of the apartment to do key duplication and unlocking work.
Due to breakdown of marriage, Wu Yali was diagnosed with depression unfortunately. In 2015, a good friend introduced Wu Yali to become a member of Rugao cycling association. After that she participated in competitions in places such as Anhui, Shanghai, Suzhou and Yangzhou, won awards of different levels. Led by her, her mother Zhang Jianmei also joined Rugao cycling association.
Wu Yali is a dutiful daughter. Every time on her mother’s birthday, she will use a special way to celebrate for her.
This year Zhang Jianmei’s 55th birthday is coming. Wu Yali suddenly got an idea: as a cycling lover, beautiful, grand and thrilling Sichuan-Tibet line is forever a temptation!
Wu Yali had not expected that the idea which seems crazy and bold was supported greatly by her mother Zhang Jianmei.
On 12 May, they flew to Chengdu. Accompanying her mother in places like Jiu Zhaigou for three days, at about 7 am on 17 May, the cycling was started officially. They set off to the destination, Lhasa of Tibet…
‘In the most tiring day, I crossed four mountains, experienced three fogs in the mountains and four heavy rains, experienced four seasons in one day,’ Wu Yali said, ‘the beauty and grandness of the scenes we saw on the way let us understand the amazing power and charm of nature.’
Starting from Chengdu, Wu Yali and her mother Zhang Jianmei used 21 days, cycled 2160 km, and reached the destination Lhasa of Tibet successfully, and completed the challenge of Sichuan-Tibet highway cycling.
