On 21 August, play Jinjiang legend – Dong Zhujun’s first trail performance was done in Gengsu Theatre. Dong Zhujun’s son, 95-year-old Xia Daming sent flowers to congratulate on the performance’s success.

The play told the story of Nantong historic celebrity Dong Zhujun’s early years. Not long after People’s Republic of China was founded, Shanghai government was raising fund to build Jinjiang hotel to receive state guests. Dong Zhujun gave two restaurants (Jinjiang Sichuan restaurant, Jinjiang teahouse) to the state, and donated 150 thousand dollars and a villa with garden which she earned in the previous 16 years also, only kept Qin Yuan Chun written by Guo Moruo and a set of four precious pieces of stationery. She gave everything for building of PRC.

The legendary Nantong lady experienced end of Qing dynasty, 1911 revolution, the Northern Warlords period, anti-Japanese war period, war of liberation period and establishment of PRC in her life. Her life experience is a miniature of half China’s modern history. Her choice is a proof that among the political forces in modern history, CPC won people’s recognition and victory undoubtedly.

In the present, stage play Jinjiang legend – Dong Zhujun has been shortlisted in 2020 Jiangsu stage art fine work supporting project major projects.
