The 1st RCEP certificate of origin for Malaysia issued in Nantong

Companies can enjoy zero tariff with certificates

On 18 March, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) took effect for Malaysia officially. At over 4 pm that day, Nantong Customs signed and issued the 1st RCEP certificate of origin for Malaysia in Nantong.

The certificate was applied by Nantong Arakawa Chemical Co., Ltd. It’s for a batch of close to 2 ton chemical solution. The company can enjoy zero tariff in Malaysia with this certificate.

From January to February, in Nantong Customs territory, 69 companies have applied for ASEAN certificates of origin for Malaysia. The number of visas was 229. The value of the goods was about 18 million U.S. dollars. As RCEP took effect in Malaysia, companies can enjoy multiple policy preferences.

On 1 January this year, RCEP took effect in 10 members including China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. On 1 February, it took effect in Korea.

From January to February, Nantong Customs signed and issued in total 920 certificates of origin under RCEP item. The value of the goods is 66.5121 million U.S. dollars.
