On 3rd January, Nantong Bureau of Ecology and Environment released the latest air quality ‘transcript’: in 2023, the two indices which are the PM2.5 and excellent air quality days ratio of Nantong were ranked first in Jiangsu.

In 2023, Nantong completed 3021 air treatment projects including VOCs integrated treatment, NOx in-depth treatment, catering lampblack standard alteration and transformation, and obsolescence of diesel trucks, and reduced emission of 2578 tons of VOCs and 1537 tons of NOx in total. 2556 enterprises applied ‘one facility one code’ smart management on activated carbon exhausted gas treatment facilities. 464 casting industries reached the standard of emission control. 292 biomass boilers completed ultra-low emission transformation. The low efficiency breathing valves of 76 volatile organic liquid storage tanks were replaced. Jiangsu Nantong power generation and Nantong Tianshenggang power generation deep denitrification transformation was completed. Rugao, Rudong, Qidong, Haimen and Nantong Economic and Technological Development Areas promoted the building of ‘no peculiar smell parks’. 17 Nantong enterprises got about 68 million yuan air pollution prevention and control subsidies from the central government, which was to encourage the enterprises to improve pollution treatment level actively, to achieve simultaneous efforts in economic development and ecological environment protection.
